The brief.
Step away from cliché jewelry aesthetics (dark background, gold text, stock photos) and design an experience that reads like a Hodinkee editorial, not another Shopify site — while preserving commercial function: catalog, live auction status, private viewing requests.

How we shipped it.
- 01
Immersive 3D hero: procedurally assembled cluster of three gold Rolex Day-Date-style watches built from Three.js primitives — fluted bezel, indexed dial, hands, crown, lugs, bracelet links. MeshPhysicalMaterial with clearcoat, multi-layer studio lighting (warm key, two gold kickers, cool rim). Cluster responds to cursor parallax and scroll (scale + Y drift + Z recede).

Editorial composition layer: Cormorant Garamond (display serif with italic accents) paired with Manrope (body) and JetBrains Mono (labels). Palette: obsidian + three-stop champagne gold gradient. Each section closes with an italic phrase carrying an animated shimmer — stylistic refrain throughout.

Commercial layer: asymmetric 12-column Bento with five pillars (Live Auctions, Diamonds, Watches, Boutiques, VIP Concierge). Catalog of 6 top lots with brand filters and dynamic status badges (LIVE / NEW / RESERVED). Live auction widget shows current bid, countdown, viewer count.

Micro-detail layer: animated count-up stats (17+ years, $24M+ volume, 12,400+ items), infinite marquee of haute horology brands, cursor-following radial sheen on each Bento card, 5% film grain overlay, synchronized pulse on live indicators.
